Hunger strike starts in Germany

Germany Democratic Kurdish Society Center (NAV-DEM) issued a written statement and announced that they will be holding multi-faceted actions between April 23 and 27 as part of the Freedom for Öcalan Campaign.
The statement pointed out the strict isolation conditions imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and said: “The Erdoğan-Bahçeli dictatorship aims to disband the Freedom Movement represented by Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. We know this fact very well that the Imrali system is a torture regime formed by the US, the EU and Turkey to break the Kurdish will for freedom. Because Öcalan’s freedom ideology goes against the pawn role capitalist nation states have in mind for Kurds, and due to the fact that Mr. Öcalan is becoming an actor in the Middle East, the Imrali torture system intensifies every day.”
The statement mentioned that Öcalan is not allowed in any form to meet with his lawyers or his family, and announced that there will be several demonstrations held for the freedom of Kurdish People’s Leader Öcalan. The NAV-DEM statement said the following:
“There will be multi-faceted demonstrations as part of the Freedom for Öcalan Campaign. On this basis, we are calling on all patriotic Kurdish people in Germany and Europe, all our allies, all internationalist and socialist organizations and all constituents to participate to the marches and other demonstrations.”
