Volcano in Indonesia emits a cloud of ash to a height of 5 km

Mount” Sinabung” volcano breathed a cloud of hot ash 5 kilometers high Tuesday, in its first major eruption since August last year, according to Indonesia’s Volcanology Center.

According to the center, there were no reports of casualties, but officials had earlier warned residents to stay at least three kilometers from the crater.

Mount “Sinabung” volcano activity has increased since last year and North Sumatra province has announced that the warning of volcanoes is at its second highest level.

There are about 130 active volcanoes in Indonesia, it is one of the largest active volcanoes in any country in the world, and Mount Sinabung remained dormant for centuries until it erupted in 2010.
