Nominations to lead a new unified transitional government must take place within a week and vote on candidates in early February, the UN mission in Libya said Thursday.
And in November, the United Nations brought together 75 Libyan participants in a political dialogue in Tunisia with the aim of drawing up a road map for general elections to be held in late December.
After weeks of debate, participants in this week’s debate agreed on rules for selecting a new three-member presidential council and a prime minister to oversee the run-up to the elections.
The United Nations reported on Thursday that the dialogue members will vote on candidates for the leadership positions of the new government in Switzerland from February 1 st to 5th.
And since 2014, Libya has been divided between two rival governments in the capital Tripoli in the west and in the east.
