A high-ranking Turkish delegation arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, a few hours after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his country’s readiness for dialogue with all regional countries on the condition that Turkey’s sovereignty be respected.
The “Xeber24” website learned from informed sources in the Syrian capital, Damascus, that a Turkish delegation consisting of officials in the intelligence service and high-ranking Turkish military personnel had arrived, with Russian mediation, of the capital, to hold talks with the Syrian government.
The informed source, who declined to be named, indicated that relations with Turkey were not broken and that they were continuing even in the height of the crisis.
He pointed out that the water is slowly returning to its streams with Russian mediation, as the latter is working to break the wall between the two parties and announce it soon officially.
The source stressed that the Syrian government is open to the relationship with all parties, including Turkey, Iraq and Iran, as preserving the interests and security of these countries will be among the priorities of the Syrian government in the first place, regardless of the circumstances.
Turkey is home to all the Syrian armed extremist opposition factions, and it is also withdrawing from some of its points in the countryside of Idlib after understandings with Russia, as happened in Ghouta, Aleppo, Hama, Homs and Daraa.
The source did not mention what the delegation would discuss with the Syrian government.
