Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the European Court’s decision on the release of jailed Kurdish politician “Selaا Aldeen Demirtaş”, describing it as a political and hypocritical decision.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the announcement Wednesday, at a meeting of his Justice and Development Party (AKP) group in the Turkish parliament.

“I would like to refer to the decision of the European Court of Human Rights on “Selah Aldeen Demirtaş”, the decisions made here are assessed only by our courts, the European Court of Human Rights made this decision without exhausting domestic remedies and made an extraordinary request,” Erdogan said.

“It’s officially double standards, so they’re hypocritical.”

“Even if we put aside their exception, the sentence against “Salah Alddine Demirtaş” is clearly contrary to the court’s own justifications, such as the decision of the Batasuna party in Spain.”

Erdogan called on Europe and its court to consider its contradictions the European Court of Human Rights, which must first consider its contradictions if you want to be respected in Turkey before.”
