The US envoy, “James Jeffrey”, informed his European counterparts, the Arabs, the Syrian opposition, and the Kurdish National Council, the end of its duties in Syria, and the appointment of a replacement for it, stressing that “American policy will continue” if the candidate “Joe Biden” wins the US presidency.

It is scheduled that his deputy, Joel Rubarn, who was present with him in most of his contacts and meetings after taking office in mid-2018, will assume the position during this period, as a special coordinator at the Foreign Ministry for the Syrian file and a representative of Washington in the international coalition against ISIS. European officials said: “This is an indication of the continuation of the policy in the current stage until the formation of the American administration.”

“Jeffrey” told his European counterparts in farewell communications that the current US policy towards Syria “will continue” regardless of the election results.

He added: “What I can say, regarding our presence in Syria, I do not see any change in the presence of our forces, and I do not see any change in our sanctions policy, and I do not see any change in our demand for Iran to leave Syria; Whether it is with the Biden administration or Trump, ”adding in an interview with the SyriaDirect website:“ We imposed sanctions on about 75 individuals under (Caesar Act), and under other laws we found in certain more reasonable circumstances. This is just the beginning of what will be more waves of sanctions, once again, we start with the people closest to the lion; Because we think it is very important to focus on the accountability of those who financed him, and those who enabled his military machine. ”

Jeffrey, during his tenure, played a bad role in the deals that took place with Turkey and its president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as he was the godfather of the Turkish attacks on Rojava and northeastern Syria and played a bad role against the Kurdish people.
