During a security operation, the Syrian Democratic Forces arrested one of the most senior local leaders in the ranks of “ISIS” in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

As local media sources reported, the SDF managed in the early hours of this morning to carry out a security operation in the town of Al-Sabha, during which the SDF fighters raided 3 houses in the town, accompanied by forces from the International Coalition.

The operation resulted in the arrest of one of the “princes” of the “ISIS” organization who held a security position responsible for the movement of ISIS cells in the city of Deir Ezzor known as “Abu Jihad Al-Ansari”, near the Al-Iman Mosque in the town of Al-Sabha, according to local sources, quoting a leader in “SDF”.

Abu Jihad Al-Ansari is considered one of the top leaders of local ISIS mercenaries in the region.

The eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor has recently witnessed an escalation in the movement of ISIS mercenary cells, in addition to cells belonging to the regime’s security institutions, and another to Turkey.

The SDF operations have continued since March 2019 in pursuing ISIS cells, after it finished eliminating the last strongholds of the organization in Al-Baghouz municipality in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
