The Syrian Democratic Council responds, through “Xeber24” to the provocative claims of Russian officials and reminds them of the Moscow document

The co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council, “Amina Omar”, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the statements of some Russian officials regarding northern and eastern Syria, in conjunction with the Turkish threats, that are harmful to the Syrian people.

In exclusive statements to “Xeber24,” “Omar” said: “From time to time, some Russian politicians come out and make statements that are not in the interest of the Syrian people.”

She added, “It is possible that these statements could be messages to the Americans in light of the Russian-American competition for influence in the region.”

“Omar” stressed, “But in the end, there are such statements that harm the Syrian people, especially as they coincide with Turkish threats to the regions of northern and eastern Syria.”

The leadership of the Syrian Democratic Council responded to the allegations of the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, “Maria Zakharova”, and Moscow’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, about the Kurds’ desire to establish a separatist entity in northeastern Syria.

“The Syrian Democratic Council has a national democratic project, through which it affirms the unity of the Syrian territories and an end to all forms of occupation that have caused the fragmentation of the Syrian lands.”

She added, therefore, there are no intentions to separate, and the evidence for this is that recently, the Syrian Democratic Council signed a document of understanding with the Popular Will Party, and they affirmed in this document the unity of the Syrian territories, noting that the document was signed in Moscow and in the presence of the Russian side.

Commenting on a question about their invitation to the Russians to play the role of mediator in a dialogue between them and the Syrian regime, Omar replied: “Yes, we asked the Russians to play the role of guarantor in our discussions with the Syrian regime and they welcomed that, but so far there is no progress in this regard.”

“The Syrian Democratic Council has a national democratic project, through which it affirms the unity of the Syrian territories and an end to all forms of occupation that have caused the fragmentation of the Syrian lands.”

And she pointed out, “The obstructing party is the regime, which does not accept dialogue at all, and insists on a military solution to restore all of the Syrian territories to its control, knowing that we have always been ready for dialogue and have shown flexibility in that.”

And the leadership of the Syrian Democratic Council concluded, saying, “We hope the Russian side will take more serious steps in this direction in the future.”

Russian Foreign Ministry officials, including Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, have repeated allegations about the intention of the Kurds to form a separate Kurdish entity in eastern Syria, with US support.
