US President Donald Trump has directed to extend the national emergency related to the situation in Syria beyond October 14.

A White House statement said: “The situation in Syria, especially the actions taken by the Turkish government to carry out a military attack on northeastern Syria, undermine the campaign to defeat ISIS and endanger civilians, and continue to pose an extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States “.

He added: “For this reason, the national emergency declared on October 14, 2019 must remain in effect after October 14, 2020 for a period of one year.”
