Today, Saturday, US Secretary of State “Mike Pompeo” announced the start of the application of all United Nations sanctions on Iran, stressing that additional measures will soon be announced to strengthen the implementation of sanctions.

Pompeo added that Washington pledges to punish those who violate the sanctions on Iran, warning of the repercussions of the United Nations’ failure to implement the sanctions.

Pompeo indicated that his country will announce additional measures to strengthen the enforcement of sanctions against Iran.

The US Secretary of State said, “Washington is re-imposing sanctions to exert maximum financial pressure on the Iranian regime, stressing that the maximum pressure on Tehran will continue until it stops chaos and bloodshed,” according to his description.

He pointed out that the Trump administration has always realized that the Iranian regime is the greatest threat to peace in the world, noting that by re-imposing sanctions, the world will be safer.

Washington is relying on this to the “Snapback” mechanism under the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program, the “Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action” and Security Council Resolution 2231, which allows any signatory to the agreement to reactivate these sanctions in the event Tehran breaches its obligations under the agreement signed in 2015.

And on August 21, the US Secretary of State, “Mike Pompeo”, presented at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Washington’s request to the Security Council to activate the trigger mechanism against Iran.
