New military spokesman appointed for the coalition against “ISIS”

On Saturday 5/9/2020, a joint press conference was held between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the International Coalition to announce the end of the mission of the Spokesman for the International Coalition, Colonel “Miles Keggins” in northern and eastern Syria.

The international coalition against ISIS appointed Colonel “Wayne Maruto” as the spokesperson for Operation Inherent Resolve, replacing Colonel Miles Kaikens, who recently completed his job as the coalition spokesman.

In a statement, the coalition said, “Colonel Maruto is the director of public affairs and spokesman for the Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, based in Baghdad, who leads the communications of the military operation for 77 countries and five international organizations that represent the global coalition to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria.”

He added, “Colonel Maruto has 27 years of military experience, including 16 years as a public affairs officer, and this is the fifth time that Colonel Maruto has worked in Iraq since 2008.”

He pointed out that he held the position of Director of the Public Affairs Office in the US Army Central Command and Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve in 2015, at the beginning of the campaign to defeat ISIS, Colonel Maruto played a key role in developing the initial military public communication of the global coalition.

He also has experience in partnering with Iraqis and members of the coalition and is well versed in history and current events in the region. ”

It is reported that the international coalition was formed six years ago on September 10, 2014, with the aim of eliminating the terrorist organization ISIS, and in March 2019, the Syrian Democratic Forces announced the liberation of the town of Al-Baghouz, the last stronghold of the organization, with the support of the coalition after thousands of victims and martyrs fell.
