The official Turkish Anatolia Agency reported on the return of Syrian families who sought refuge in Turkey in previous years due to the clashes in their cities.
The agency claimed in a report, today, Tuesday, that the Syrians who sought refuge in Turkey, fleeing the ongoing war in their country, continued to return to what it called safe areas in both Idlib (northwest) and Afrin, northern Syria.
In its report, the agency claimed that Syrian families arrived from various Turkish cities to the “Gilo Gozo” crossing in Hatay state, southern Turkey, in order to return to the “safe” areas that were occupied by the Turkish forces deployed within the Syrian territories in previous years, The largest of them is the Afrin operation, which Turkey called the Olive Branch, which resulted in the displacement of all the people of Afrin from their city, and the families of the factions from Ghouta, Daraa, Hama and Homs were resettled instead of them, after an agreement with Russia and an American neglect.
The agency indicated that after completing their official procedures at the “Gilwa Gozo” crossing, the Syrian families continue their way to the safe areas on the Syrian side.
The agency said, during the first eight months of this year, more than 6,600 Syrian families crossed from Turkey to safe areas in their country.
In a special statement to “Xeber24,” the director of the Human Rights Organization – Afrin, “Ibrahim Sheikho,” said that no families from Afrin from Turkey or from the areas around Afrin returned to their homes.
In his speech, Sheikho added, “Turkey is trying to create legitimacy in the city of Afrin by publishing its agency fake and unfounded reports, at a time when Afrin families and the families of their towns are being displaced in all areas of al-Shahba, Aleppo, and others.”
The human rights activist affirmed that no Kurdish families have reached Afrin, rather, the exact opposite of that is still being carried out by the elements of the Syrian factions of the Syrian opposition coalition, which Turkey brought to the region during its military campaign in 2018.
Sheikho pointed out that the leadership of the factions is transferring some of their families from the city of Afrin to the city of Sere Kaniye, from the families of the Third Corps and from the families of the Hamzat members, and this comes within the deployment of the forces in the areas occupied by Turkey in Syria, stressing that there is no return of the people of Afrin, but rather Those who remain within the city are looking to escape from the injustice and violations of the factions.
At the end of his speech, the director of the Human Rights Organization – Afrin pointed out that Turkey is working to legitimize its occupation of Afrin, similar to what it did in the city of Iskenderun, and is trying to permanently reside in Afrin amid the continuing demographic change in it.
