The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, said that the Coronavirus pandemic not only threatens the gains that the world enables to achieve in fighting poverty and building peace, but also threatens to exacerbate existing conflicts and generate new ones.

Guterres said, in a meeting of the Security Council, yesterday, Wednesday, that his call, which he made on March 23 for an immediate ceasefire in conflicts to confront the virus, prompted a number of warring parties to calm or stop the fighting.

But he added: “What is distressing is that the epidemic has not, in many cases, prompted the parties to suspend hostilities or agree to a permanent ceasefire.”

And with the United States, Brazil and India recording more than half of the known cases, the number of new cases of the new Corona virus around the world has exceeded the 20 million mark, according to a count conducted by Reuters, while the number of deaths exceeded the upper limit for the number of deaths due to influenza annually.

And with these large numbers, the World Health Organization broke its silence, and said that this respiratory disease infected at least 4 times the average number of people who contract severe influenza diseases annually, announcing its confirmation with a shocking statement, and after long months it reported that that controlling Corona is difficult.
