In response to Turkey.. France is strengthening its military presence in the eastern Mediterranean

France announced, today, Thursday, that it will deploy two fighter planes and a warship in the eastern Mediterranean, indicating that it will work to strengthen its military presence in the region.

The French Ministry of Armed Forces said that it would deploy two Rafale fighter jets, in addition to the frigate “Lafayette” in the eastern Mediterranean, as part of a plan to support its military presence in the region, amid indications of tension with Turkey.

Earlier this week, French President Emmanuel Macron called on Turkey to halt oil and gas exploration in disputed waters in the region, activities that have increased tension between Turkey and Greece.

Macron said his country would reinforce its military presence in the eastern Mediterranean.
