“In response to what was published by some pages about the conducting of French archaeologists under the protection of the People’s Protection Units ( YPG ) and SDF and holding an illegal excavations at Tell al-Sheikh Hamad site which is located about 8 km southeast of the town of Markada, we, as the Directorate of Antiquities – the Authority of Culture in al-Jazira, declare for the international public opinion that this news is false as we consider it in the context of the repugnant media campaign against self-management and the SDF and seek to discredit the administration and the SDF, and we note that the Directorate of Antiquities of al-Jazira, in cooperation with the Authority of Culture in the Self-Administration of North and East of Syria, in 2019 documented the site and published related photos on the authority’s website and its official page, which shows the presence of dozens of illegal excavations to which the site was exposed during the control of the Islamic State (ISIS), is meaning that the site and since its liberation at the beginning of 2018 are still under the supervision and observation of the Directorate of Antiquities, and there have been no abuses since liberation’s date ..
We also display, through our official website and our page, pictures of Tell al- Sheikh Hamad dating 16/7/2020 with a video showing the falsehood of allegations of mercenary pages, in addition to an aerial photo showing the violations which documented by the Directorate of Antiquities in the al-Jazira in cooperation with Authority of Culture in the self- administration of north and east of Syria In 2019 “.
