Media sources reported Japan has warned of more heavy rains on the island of “Kyushu” in the southwest of the country, Tuesday, after the death toll of the flood-affected areas reached at least 50 people, in addition to the loss of more than 12 others.

“The rain front is expected to remain until July 9th, and rain is expected over a wide area stretching from west to east Japan,” Yoshihide Suga, Chief Cabinet Secretary, told a news conference, urging residents to take measures and precautions to ensure their safety.

On Monday, Japan issued a flood warning to more than half a million people living in 3 provinces in Kyushu, according to Reuters.

“Suja” said that the police, the Self-Defense Forces and the Coast Guard are continuing search and rescue efforts.

On the other hand, the Japanese authorities stated that about 1.2 million people were informed of the evacuation of their homes on the island of Kyushu, in the south of the country.
