Today, Thursday, a joint Iraqi security forces launched a massive security operation north of Baghdad to pursue the remnants of the “ISIS” terrorist organization.

The Iraqi News Agency quoted the Security Media Cell (affiliated to the army) as “under the direction of the Prime Minister and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and under the supervision of the Joint Operations Command, the Baghdad Operations Command has begun implementing a broad military security operation north of Baghdad.”

The operation aims to pursue the remnants of the terrorist “ISIS” organization, to search the area, enhance security and stability, arrest those wanted, and protect the interests of citizens.

It is reported that about 3 years ago, Iraq declared the elimination of ISIS after undermining the capabilities of the terrorist organization that occupied in 2014 large areas of Syria and Iraq.

And during the past years, the terrorist organization whose leader was killed in a US-led operation in Syria last year sought to reorganize its ranks and launch terrorist attacks in an attempt to establish its presence.
