US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo described former White House national security adviser John Bolton as a “traitor” after Bolton accused President Donald Trump in a book of making a fatal mistake and said he did “not qualify” for the job.
On Thursday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo condemned the “lies” of former National Security Adviser John Bolton who was preparing to publish a book in which he strongly criticized President Donald Trump.
Pompeo said in a statement: “It is sad and dangerous at the same time that the last public role of John Bolton is that of a traitor who has harmed America by violating sacred trust with its people.”
He added: “I have not read the book, but according to the published extracts, John Bolton publishes a number of lies, half-truths, and others that are completely false.
Pompeo’s comments come as the White House scrambles to halt the release of Bolton’s new book, “In the Room Where it Happened,” in which Bolton details a troubling and shocking series of allegations about his tenure as President Donald Trump’s national security adviser. He alleges that Trump requested Chinese help to win the 2020 election, that the President argued Venezuela is part of the US, that he casually offered to intervene in the criminal justice system for foreign leaders and that Trump had no problem with China’s concentration camps.
