The Syrian pound is witnessing a significant decline, and an unprecedented collapse in front of foreign currencies, especially after the United States passed the “Caesar Law” and the tightening of economic sanctions, On the other hand, the struggle between “Rami Makhlouf”, and the head of the Syrian regime, “Bashar al-Assad”, in order to push him to give up his properties in the company “Syriatel” to the government.

Amid the stifling economic crisis facing Syria and the self-management that makes the citizens in front of many difficulties, our question was for Luqman Ahmi, the official spokesman for the self-administration, about the plans followed by the self-management to face this economic crisis, saying: “The economic crisis is not limited to Syria and self-administration. Rather, it will cover the whole world as a result of the epidemic of Covid 19, but the crisis will be more influential in Syria as a result of the civil war in it for several years.

He added: “As for the self-management of northern and eastern Syria, a committee has been formed to manage the economic crisis so that the effects of the economic crisis in the areas of administration are at a very low level, and this committee is working on a plan to avoid the negative repercussions of the economic crisis.”

Regarding the price of the grain crop of wheat and barley, Luqman said: “Regarding barley, the administration has set the minimum price for it, and it will not buy barley but will open the way for traders to make the purchase, according to supply and demand.”

As for wheat, Ahmi said that the pricing came after a study by a committee formed by the Economic and Agricultural Commission in northern and eastern Syria: “It was priced after a study by a committee, composed of the Economic and Agricultural Authority, the Finance Authority and the Peasants Union, and the pricing was reached, but After the rise in the dollar price, the self-administration of northern and eastern Syria has tasked the executive boards in the departments to form committees for a new study for wheat pricing, and we are awaiting the results of those studies, to review the pricing in light of this.

Luqman stressed that Caesar’s law would not include the areas of self-administration, saying: “There is an article in Caesar’s law, which says that sanctions only cover areas under the control of the regime, and thus will not include areas of self-administration for northern and eastern Syria, but this will not certain us from the impact of sanctions on us.” Because we are part of Syria and we trade the Syrian pound, and any rise in the exchange rate of the lira will affect us negatively.”

On the Kurdish-Kurdish agreement, Luqman stressed that the agreement will not be Kurdish unless the Kurdish parties join it: “The agreement will not be Kurdish-Kurdish if the rest of the Kurdish parties do not join it, and a body of Kurdish national unity parties has been formed, in order to dialogue with parties The Kurdish National Council, within the initiative of Mr. Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces.
