The US Central Command announced on Friday that the international coalition forces led by Washington, in cooperation with the Syrian Democratic Forces, killed two ISIS leaders in a raid in eastern Syria this week.

Centcom said in a statement that “Ahmed Issa Ismail Al-Zawy and Ahmad Abd Muhammad Hassan al-Jaghifi” were killed in a joint raid on an ISIS website in the Deir al-Zour province on May 17.

The statement emphasized that “Al-Zawy,” also known as Abu Ali Al-Baghdadi, was “the ISIS governor” in northern Baghdad and “responsible for publishing and reporting terrorist directives from senior ISIS leaders to its elements in northern Baghdad.”

He added that Al-Gejifi, also known as Abu Ammar, was “a senior official in the logistics and supplies of ISIS, and he is responsible for directing the process of securing and transporting weapons and explosive materials and personnel throughout Iraq and Syria.”

The statement stressed that “killing” these two elements “will disrupt future attacks against innocent civilians and our security partners, and in the region as a whole,” according to Agence France-Presse.

He continued, “The coalition forces in Iraq and Syria continue to pressure ISIS to prevent their re-emergence.”

Since its defeat in Syria in March 2019, ISIS has launched its terrorist attacks, especially within the area between the countryside of Deir Ezzor and Al-Sukhnah in the easternmost province of Homs.
