A 5.1 magnitude earthquake hits the coast of Nicaragua

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Nicaragua in the Pacific Ocean yesterday.

The US Geological Survey said the quake occurred 49 km southwest of Masachaba in Nicaragua.

The earthquake shook the buildings near the capital, Managua, but there was no immediate report of casualties or material damage caused by the earthquake.
