One person died and 11 were injured as a result of an earthquake in Tehran

On Thursday midnight, the Iranian capital witnessed an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, at a depth of 7 kilometers from the surface of the earth. The tremor occurred in the eastern part of the capital, Tehran.

Iranian television quoted a spokesman for the Iranian emergency organization, Mojtaba Khaldi, as saying: “As a result of the earthquake, one person died and 11 others were wounded, east of Tehran, while escaping from the house at the moment of the tremor, which occurred in the outskirts of “Damavand” in the Tehran Province.”

For his part, the mayor of Tehran, Pervez Hanaji, affirmed that all officials and institutions of the Tehran municipality are on alert in anticipation of other aftershocks.
