Sources reported that Russia decided to freeze the armistice agreement in Idlib in order to pressure Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, As the most important problem for Russian-Turkish relations, while Ankara does not in return seek to fully resolve this problem, which has reached a critical stage, by strengthening its positions on the Idlib front, while Russian forces have intensified the steps to transfer weapons to Syria.
Political analysts also warned against entering the Russian-Turkish relations in a complex stage during the coming period, regarding the settlement reached between the two parties regarding the Syrian crisis, especially with regard to the truce in the Idlib governorate.
They considered that Moscow’s unilateral move on the Idlib file is likely aimed at putting more pressure on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in order to respect the armistice agreement and not to push more Turkish forces into Syrian territory.
The Russian move coincides with the entry of a new military convoy Friday belonging to the Turkish forces towards the agreed tension reduction area between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his counterpart Erdogan.
It is worth noting that the Moscow-Ankara cease-fire agreement, which was concluded last March, witnessed numerous violations from all sides.
