Heavy clashes in “demilitarized zone”, bloody attacks on regime positions

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported the killing of a number of the regime’s forces during the attacks of mercenaries of Daesh, on two battalions of the regime forces in al-Kom area north of the city of Palmyra in eastern Homs.

The observatory added that the attack claimed more lives among the forces of the regime, where it documented an increase in the number of casualties, including a surprise attack of mercenaries on the region, which lasted 48 hours, to 27 dead, including at least four officers in conjunction with another attack on the concentrations of the regime forces in Badia al-Qouriya in the eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour, killing eight members of the regime, including two officers.

In a related context monitored by the observatory violent clashes raging since the early morning hours of Saturday, on axes in the outskirts of the western city of Aleppo within the so-called demilitarized zones, between the forces of the regime on the one hand, and mercenaries of Jabhat al-Nusra, following a violent attack by mercenaries on the axes of al-Behoth al-Almiya and the suburb of Assad(Dahit al-Assad) and the surroundings of al-Rashidin.

The clashes coincided with heavy shelling and intensive targeting between the two sides, coinciding with the fall of rocket-propelled grenades on the neighborhood of Hamdaniya, which is located close to the site of clashes, while the simultaneous clashes resulted in casualties between the two sides, 8 mercenaries of Tahrir al-Sham were killed.

The demilitarized zones are witnessing a violent escalation in the run-up to the meetings of the Guarantor States (Russia-Turkey-Iran) in preparation for a new round of Astana meetings, which perpetuates the occupation and maintains terrorist groups and mercenaries belonging to Turkey in Syria.
