Sipan Hamo: Turkish-Russian contract about Idlib is temporary
The general commander of the People Protection Units (YPG) Sipan Hamo said that the Turkish-Russian agreement about Idlib is personal and temporary, and he assured that Afrin represents everything for Rojava and Kurdistan.
That came in the context of an interview held by Rojava sStation with the general commander of YPG Sipan Hamo to talk about the Turkish-Russian agreement and the plans for Idlib and Afrin.
Hamo touched upon the Turkish efforts to prevent launching a military operation on Idlib; including the diplomatic efforts to put pressure on Europe to threat it of the immigrants’ matter, “Erdogan said clearly to the European countries that if the military operation begins in Idlib, this will directly affect Europe. That is, he threatened the European countries of the subject of immigrants in order to gain the international support for his policy and occupation of the Syrian territories.” Hamo also pointed out that the collapse and failure of the Turkish policies in the area was one of the main reasons that makes him to cling to the occupied areas of Idlib and northern Aleppo, especially that the withdrawal of Turkey from these areas and its return to the former border will exacerbate the situations inside Turkey.
Hamo added in this context, “Erdogan achieved some temporary outcomes, and later went to Russia and met Putin personally. According to the information, he has declared his loyalty to Putin and expressed his willingness to do everything he would be demanded. Erdogan told Putin that the military operation in Idlib will affect the upcoming elections in Turkey which will lead to his fall, and he called for Putin to cancel the military operation and Putin agreed.”
Hamo pointed out that the Russian-Turkish agreement is an interim agreement, “Yes, it is an interim agreement, but I think that it may continue till the end of winter or till March, and a program has been set on this basis. According to the agreement, Damascus road must be opened in mid-November in addition to the opening of Jarabulus and Jisr al-Shughur roads and forming a demilitarized zone in a depth of 15 kilometers, but it is not known whether the plan will be implemented or not. Turkey and its mercenaries may implement the plan, but some parties will not accept it. On Saturday, there were demonstrations in Idlib against the agreement between Erdogan and Putin. Russia and the other countries will tell Erdogan that they have given him the opportunity but he has not succeeded to implement the plan. Then a military operation will begin. Erdogan will be in a critical situation. At that time, there will be many contradictions among the mercenary gangs and Turkey will abandon them.”
About the violations practiced in Afrin and the plans plotted for Afrin, Hamo said, “What Turkey is doing in Afrin is the occupation, extermination and displacement of the Kurdish people. The Turkish policy is based on the genocide of the Kurdish people. Afrin was part of this plan so we must not distinguish between the occupation of Afrin and the attacks on areas of Bakur Kurdistan.”
The general commander of YPG Sipan Hamo touched upon the second stage of Afrin liberation campaign and said, “Afrin means everything to Kurdistan and Rojava. Everybody must know well that Afrin is everything for Kurdistan and Rojava. If we want to make the campaign a great campaign, we must be prepared for that. The areas of Rojava and North Syria are strategic areas. The Arab people must support YPG, YPJ and SDF.
