Battle to Defeat Terrorism campaign advances
The Syrian Democratic Forces’ (SDF) fighters continue to advance within the final stage of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign, achieving more victories on the fronts and axes of the fighting.
SDF’s media center issued a written statement to the public opinion, in which it revealed the outcome of the last 24 hours of the last stage of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign which was entitled “The Battle to Defeat Terrorism.”
The text of the statement included,
“Our forces continue their military operations against IS mercenaries within the campaign of “The Battle to Defeat Terrorism” which is the completion of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign, achieving further advance in all axes where violent clashes are taking place.
This is the outcome of the clashes and battles that our forces have been engaged in over the past 24 days:
1. Hajin axis: Our forces clashed with the mercenaries at several points and advanced at a distance of about 2 km. Our forces managed to establish 15 fixed points. The mercenaries attempted to sneak to carry out surprise attacks, but our fighters repelled them and killed and injured a number of them, while the others fled.
Moreover, one of our fighters was martyred in the clashes, while another one was wounded.
The area is witnessing a cautious calm now.
2. Kasra axis: One of our fighters was wounded as a result of being targeted by a mercenary sniper, and his situation is currently stable.
A mine exploded at five of our fighters, injuring the five ones, two of them critically, and three were in a stable condition.
The International Alliances’ aircraft carried out several air strikes against the concentration of IS mercenaries, and the losses that were inflicted to the mercenaries have not been ascertained.
In addition, 1 mercenary was killed.
3. Al-Shaddadi axis: Strong clashes broke out between our fighters and the mercenaries for half an hour. Our fighters used mortars to hit the positions of the mercenaries, and no one of our fighters was hurt.
In the result of these clashes, our fighters progressed a distance of 1 km and they were able to set up 17 new points on this axis.
The Coalition’s aircraft carried out several raids on the mercenaries’ sites and concentrations.
4. Baguz axis: Violent clashes broke out between our fighters and IS mercenaries, in which the mercenaries used thermal rockets. Our troops responded to the source of fire, while the forces targeted a mercenary sniper and killed him during the clashes.
In the clashes that have been ongoing since Monday evening, our forces have made a significant progress inside Baguz, where the mercenaries’ defensive fortifications have been destroyed.
This axis also witnessed violent clashes on Monday evening. The Field Command confirmed the killing of 17 mercenaries. They arrested the mercenary Ahmed Ahmed al-Saeed, known as Abu Hajar al-Shami. They also destroyed a military vehicle, while the engineering teams dealt with 60 mines planted by the mercenaries in the area.
Our forces infiltrated into Baguz village amid violent clashes and strikes on the outskirts of the city. The bodies of the mercenaries were scattered all over the town. The Field Command confirmed that the mercenaries were encircled in more than one point inside the town.
Our forces succeeded to liberate and secure the bridge between Baguz town and Bu Kamal city after violent clashes broke out with the mercenaries which started in the evening and lasted until the early morning hours. The mercenaries launched an opposite attack on Tuesday morning to restore the bridge, but our forces repelled them and killed 6 of them.
Our special units managed to free two Yazidi abductees from Şengal.
Furthermore, 3 of our fighters were wounded, and another one promoted to the rank of martyrdom.
3 – The outcome of the clashes on all axes since Monday evening:
35 mercenaries were killed during the clashes, while the International Collation’s warplanes carried out 9 air strikes on the mercenaries’ sites. The installed points are / 64 / points.
While two of our fighters joined the rank of martyrdom and a number of them got wounded.”
